EOS to set up flagship facility in Huntsville, creating 100 jobs
Australian aerotech and defense firm Electro Optic Systems Pty Ltd, or EOS, today announced that it will build its flagship U.S. manufacturing facility in Huntsville.
In the first year of operation, EOS plans to hire up to 100 full-time employees, and the facility has been expanded to reach at least 250 employees if contract awards continue on the current trajectory, have company officials said.
The company made the announcement to the Huntsville / Madison County Chamber. EOS is equipping a production facility at 2865 Wall Triana Hwy.
A leader in remote controlled and robotic weapons systems, EOS is based in Hume, Australia and operates in the military space, missile defense and surface warfare sectors. Its products integrate software, lasers, electronics, optronics, gimbals, telescopes, beam directors, stabilization and precision mechanisms.
Governor Kay Ivey said the company was a natural fit for Huntsville.
“EOS’s decision to locate its new manufacturing center in Alabama reflects the state’s attractive business climate and its skilled workers, who prove their capabilities every day,” said Ivey.
Huntsville Mayor Tommy Battle said the coming of EOS “continues our momentum to add more manufacturing to support Huntsville’s excellent research and development capabilities.”
EOS US President Phil Coker said the company was eager to help “make the community better.”
“Northern Alabama is a region of incredible people, exceptional institutions and immense potential and we are thrilled to have the chance to establish a business in this region,” said Coker.
