Planned Parenthood to Open New Flagship Downtown Facility – CBS San Francisco

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF / BCN) – Planned Parenthood Northern California plans to open the doors of its new flagship facility in San Francisco on Wednesday, officials said.

The new 12,000 square foot facility at 1522 Bush Street replaces the organization’s former facility on Valencia Street and will allow Planned Parenthood to expand its services.

It is estimated that the San Francisco site serves some 13,000 people per year, offering services such as STI testing and treatment, birth control, abortion care, wellness exams, patient screenings. cancer, vasectomies, and mental health services, among others.

“With the opening of our fully donor-funded flagship San Francisco site, we are taking one more step to ensure that people have more control over their lives, their health and their future,” said Gilda Gonzales, President and Managing Director of Planned Parenthood in Northern California. . “The time has come to strengthen and secure access to sexual and reproductive health care. It’s going to take all of us – the Biden administration, states, local governments, communities and individuals – to meet this moment. “

The new, state-of-the-art, $ 22 million flagship facility was fully funded by 877 individual donations, including one from the Hellman Foundation, organization officials said.

“With the opening of San Francisco’s flagship health center, Planned Parenthood Northern California will continue to establish a national model of community grounding, equity and exceptional health care, education and advocacy,” said Susan Hirsch, Executive Director of the Hellman Foundation.
