Sundial officially opens flagship plant in Olds, Alberta

“We are delighted to officially open the doors of our flagship facility in Olds, Alberta and we thank everyone who took the time to celebrate the occasion with us, ”said the CEO of Sundial Torsten Kuenzlen. “Sundial has proudly established its roots in Alberta and we look forward to making a significant economic contribution to Old. ”

Sundial received a cultivation license from Health Canada on September 14e, 2018 for the first phase of the 500,000 square foot facility and the modular construction method specifically designed for the company allows for very rapid expansion. Additional cultivation capacity will be added as soon as Health Canada can grant the required licenses. The facility will be fully built in 2019 and will feature 140 state-of-the-art, individually controlled grow rooms capable of producing over 100 million grams of cannabis per year.

“Sundial plans to employ 500 people in Old once their installation is complete, making them the largest employer in town, ”said Old Mayor, Michael muzychka. “The Town of Olds has opened its doors to the cannabis industry and we are delighted that Sundial has chosen to make such a significant investment in our community. ”

Old-Didsbury-Three Hills MP, Nathan Cooper added, “Sundial has already provided significant investments in our community and the region’s economic growth. Sundial’s plan to employ more than 500 people here in Old will do so much to support local families. “
